The problem that we r facing currently is that there are not many highly qualified intellectual people in our institute who have full autonomy to make decisions that can facilitate the growth of the country but rather being filled with goons and illiterate people who act as an proxy for the current government in power for eg- how many of the governers have resigned the rbi..

Raghuram Rajan was the first person in the world to predict the 2008 usa financial crisis but everyone ignored him in 2004. And today Michael burry is known as the first person to predict the crisis which is wrong.

Wish we could have Rajan as the PM of India. This man could have put India's GDP and Industrialization on fast tracks. He also once said that the agricultural sector in India needs to be revamped so that it can add value to our economy rather than India only giving subsidy. He has most of the things figure out and am amazed at how his own country refuses to recognize him for the topmost position.

@Satyajit Kanjilal You have got him completely wrong. He is a supporter of capitalism but he has the problem with cronyism. He has watched American economy closely he knows what crony capitalism has done to America. Read his book Saving capitalism from capitalists you will know his views are. Today American corporations are so powerful that the American government doesn't have the spine to oppose them, the American corporates are in business and in policy making also which is a dangerous thing. The policies are always directed towards business house and middle class is suffering in USA. We have to atleast accept that he knows more than most of us as he has worked as a IMF chief going on to say that he is a fake economist is a bad thing.

What is wrong with nationalism? It's a fundamental duty of every citizen of India to respect his country and feel proud of India . What is wrong with it ? Where is the criticism arises ? For appeasement of some anti nationalist groups and leftist media , we can't give up nationalism . I love my India a lot . I don't want to say against the media who is known to be a leftist anti nationalist propaganda but Raghu Ram Rajan sir you are a great economist with a great long run vision . You have saved the indian economy from severe financial crisis . I respect you a lot but please don't fall in the trap of the leftist media . Jai Hindustan.

Ask yourself a question, do you love your country or a political party. There is nothing wrong with loving your country. I know it could be hard but you have to separate the country from the plethora of politicians and their opinions.

India as envisioned is a diverse country with multiple religions and casts. All of then are Indians and should stay together in peace. Hindus, Muslins, Christians, Jains etc.have their own freedom of speech and practise their beliefs. If letting them eat red meat is part of diversity, let it be. Right?

Look I really don't want to start a debate. But a French army officer, Charles De Gaulle once said patriotism is when the love of the people of your country comes first.
Nationalism is when the hatred of people other than your own comes first.

Why is everybody obsessed with Professor Raghuram Rajan's theoretical conclusions, and Urjit Patel the much more latest RBI Governor (2016 to 2018) is nowhere to be seen?. Raghuram Rajan was ineffective as the RBI Governor from 2013 to 2016 because he did not have a feel of the Indian industry and kept on raising interest rates to control inflation.

    • Rohan Roy
      Rohan Roy 7 महीने पहले

@UCmbQm5Vocgd7v0FDzeMDVVw Reducing inflation was on govt's over-controlling orders (which was the new govt. policy of getting macroeconomic numbers right) and which led to disagreement between govt and RBI finally leading to his resignation.
Same over-powering nature of FM led Govt. demanded more dividends from RBI to meet its fiscal deficits leading to resignation of Urjit Patel. Thie tuning of macroeconomic numbers reduced exports and domestic household savings rates as shown by the share of households in Gross Fixed capital formation. This led to the reduction of spending and consumption and resulted in the current economic crisis in India. After 2013, when fuel prices were down by almost half, instead of making use of the new savings, there is no idea where the extra BoP is used. Please state your views. Thank you.

Dibakar Biswas - Firstly, you are mistaken that there was a global recession possibility between 2013 to 2016 when Rajan was RBI Governor.
Rajan is/was a Finance Professor with no expertise in Development Economics. Although he was Chief Economist at World Bank, it was an analyst type role coveting Financial Economics. In addition, Rajan had very little field level experience in India, whether in Banking or Economics. And considering that 80% of Indian economy is in the informal sector, with no availability of data, any RBI Gov not having a feel of the informal economy is bound to make a judgemental error.

    • Dibakar Biswas
      Dibakar Biswas 11 महीने पहले +3

Vikram, I will present facts if you do. Tell me how you conclude Rajan was ineffective and why do you think he did not have a feel for Indian industry. Controlling inflation is not RBI's primary job, they do it on government's request.
